President Akufo Addo has suspended the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bosome Freho in the Ashanti Region over his involvement in Galamsey.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Yaw Danso was heard in an audio recording talking about his benefits from illegal mining in the District.
The District Chief Executive was summoned through the local government and rural development Minister, Dan Botwe at the Presidency in Accra.
The President has also indicated that, the matter will thoroughly be investigated to its logical conclusion.
Some have lauded the swift action taken by the President as it shows his commitment to the fight against illegal mining.
The issue of illegal mining is the major issue affecting the lives of people living in mining areas.
Water bodies in these communities are being polluted and farmlands are also being destroyed.
One of the high profile cases linked to the issue of illegal mining is the case of Chinese National, Ayisha Huang who is currently standing trial for her alleged involvement in illegal mining.
